After a meteoric scientific start in the former Soviet Union, the career of physicist Mikhail Katsnelson came to a standstill in the late 1990s. Due to a feeling of hopelessness, he decided to move abroad and ended up in Nijmegen. There, Katsnelson secured substantial grants; he even contributed to research that earned a Nobel Prize. Today he will say farewell.
